President Gerald R. Ford was the only U.S. president to model. During his early 20s, Ford worked as a model to earn extra money. He was featured on the cover of the April 1942 issue of Cosmopolitan wearing his Navy uniform shortly before departing for service in World War II.
President Ford had a long history in politics and was House minority leader between 1965 and 1973. He went on to become vice president under Richard Nixon. During his vice presidency, Ford became the first vice president to be appointed following a presidential resignation. On Aug. 9, 1974, Gerald Ford was sworn in as the 38th U.S. president.
