The song "Sunrise, Sunset" from "Fiddler on the Roof" begins with the line, "Is this the little girl I carried?" The line is sung by lead character Tevye, in reference to his one of his five daughters.

Hit Broadway musical "Fiddler on the Roof" features music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The song "Sunrise, Sunset" is a wistful lamentation about the fleeting nature of time, especially in relation to how quickly children grow, mature and ultimately leave the nest. In addition to Tevye, the song is sung by the characters Golde, Perchik and Hodel, and ultimately joined by the remainder of the company.
