Who opposed the New Deal?

Roosevelt's New Deal faced opposition from the upper class, a number of media personalities and even the Supreme Court. Opponents of the New Deal claimed many of the proposed domestic programs would be too great a burden on the rich.

The New Deal consisted of several new laws and programs that were intended to combat the effects of the Great Depression. The program overcame opposition and was enacted between 1933 and 1936. The person considered to be Roosevelt's biggest opponent was Louisiana governor Huey Long, who felt that the program was too politically conservative and that it did not do enough to relieve the financial burdens of the lower class, according to the website U.S. History.
