Orange Lake Resort was developed in 1982 by Kemmons Wilson, the founder of Holiday Inn. It is on 1,450 acres and includes 2,478 villas, four golf courses, seven pools, six retail shops and nine restaurants. Between 2006 and 2009, the company added new resorts in Panama City, Florida, Brownsville, Vermont, and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Expansion continued and the family of Orange Lake Resorts, as of 2015, includes timeshares in 12 states.
