Organs underneath the right side of the rib cage include the liver, gallbladder, transverse colon and one of the kidneys, states Health Hype. The liver is the largest of the organs under the right side of the rib cage and takes up the majority of the cavity.
The right kidney is tucked behind the liver, according to Health Hype. Though not entirely located on the right portion of the rib cage, the gallbladder is positioned in the right side region of the rib cage. The traverse colon also lies partially underneath the right side of the rib cage. Pain in the area of the right side of the rib cage may be due to ailments that include liver trauma or disease, gallstones, gallbladder cancer and kidney stones.
