Orphan Annie's wealthy adoptive father was Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks. Annie was adopted twice before moving in with the Warbucks family, first to Pop and Mrs. Bottle and later to Mr. and Mrs. Silo. She was finally taken from the orphanage by Mrs. Warbucks.

Annie called her father Mr. Warbucks for approximately the first month of her life with him; he later asked her to never call him that again and to instead call him Daddy. Soon after bringing her into the household, Mrs. Warbucks disappeared and was never a part of Annie's life. The story of "Little Orphan Annie" is set during 1933.
