OSHA 10 Certification is the voluntary 10-hour program taught by Occupational Safety & Health Administration authorized trainers, according to OSHA. The class is intended for entry-level workers to learn to recognize, avoid, abate, and prevent health and safety hazards in the workplace.
The OSHA 10 program provides information about workers' rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint, according to OSHA. There is also a voluntary 30-hour program for workers who already have some safety responsibility. The Outreach Training Program has separate industry procedures for general industry, construction, maritime and disaster site workers. Through the program, OSHA claims to help ensure workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights.
