What is a HAZWOPER certification?
By Forinfos - 11/07/2025 - 0 comments
HASWOPER certification is a process used by OSHA to ensure people handling hazardous waste are properly trained. The certification program applies to five specific types of employers and employees, all of whom could be exposed to hazardous materials.
Anyone who works with the cleanup, disposal, storage or handling of hazardous waste must have a HAZWOPER certification. The process includes a 40-hour training course in most circumstances, but depending on job type and experience, one may qualify for 24-hour course training instead. The employee has six months to finish the certification course and is required to take an eight-hour refresher course every year after obtaining the initial certification.
