Find an IP address using a site such as WhatIsMyIP.com or IPLocation.net. Both sites automatically display the IP address currently in use by a visitor's computer. Additional details available on both sites include the Internet service provider and IP address location for the visitor.

An IP address is a unique number used to identify a computer network, allowing it to communicate with other networks online. Traditional IP addresses use IPv4 networking and display as a 32-bit number. Due to IP number limits, exclusive IPv4 addresses are in low supply, as of 2015. As a result, Internet networks are shifting towards IPv6 technology, which allows a nearly infinite number of IP address combinations.
