How do you find out a physician's DEA number?

An individual member of the general public should contact a state's medical board to find out if a physician has a Drug Enforcement Administration number or registration, recommends the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. This information is not available to the public by the DEA.

Members registered with the DEA can locate a physician's registration status on the Office of Diversion Control website, notes the DEA. To locate this information, go to the website, and click on Registration Validation to log in to the site. A member must enter his DEA number, name, and Social Security or tax identification number, if applicable, to log in to the site, instructs the Office of Diversion Control.
