What is an owl's niche?

An owl's niche is the way in which it fits into its environment. Owls are nocturnal birds of prey that eat small rodents, insects and birds.

Owls have adapted to live all over the world except for Antarctica and are well-suited for hunting at night. With excellent hearing and large eyes that make use of all available light, owls can easily locate prey in darkness, and their soft feathers allow them to swoop down on prey without making a sound. Owls have powerful talons, which they use to carry prey away, and a sharp beak, which they use to kill their prey before eating it whole.
