Are owls carnivores or omnivores?

Owls are carnivores; they are not omnivores. Owls mostly feed on small mammals such as rabbits and rodents as well as birds and insects. Some owl species focus on fish. The snowy owl loves lemmings and may consume more than 1,600 per year, or three to five daily.

Owls have talons, or claws, that help them catch animals and shatter their skulls. Owls also have curved beaks that help them tear apart and consume the animals they catch. Most owls hunt at night, although some owls, such as the snowy owl, hunt in the daytime as well as at night.
