Starting in 2001, Dunn-Edwards Corporation became owned by its over 2,000 employees. The company that manufactures and supplies of architectural and industrial paints used an Employee Stock Ownership Plan after years of private ownership by Arthur C. Edwards and Frank “Buddy†Dunn.
The company started in 1925 by Frank “Buddy†Dunn and Charles Smith as the Consolidated Wallpaper Company. Based in Los Angeles, added paint to its products and changed its name Consolidated Wallpaper and Paint Corporation in 1927. In 1936, the name changed again, this time to Dunn's Inc. In 1938, Edwards joined ownership of the company, and in 1944, the named changed to Dunn-Edwards Corporation
