Both Roxy and Quiksilver are owned by Quiksilver, Inc., a publicly traded company that also owns the brand DC. Quiksilver began in 1969 in Australia with Alan Green designing men's board shorts before becoming a company in 1979. Quiksilver developed the Roxy line for women, beginning with swimwear in 1990.
Quiksilver became a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ in 1986, meaning the public can purchase, sell and hold shares of ownership without being involved in daily operations. After developing Roxy, Quiksilver acquired DC shoes in 2004. Quiksilver and Roxy sponsor numerous champion surfers, including Kelly Slater, while DC focuses on the skateboarding world, sponsoring athlete Rob Dyrdek.
