What is an ozone washing machine?

An ozone washing machine connects to the cold water line from the house and to the washing machine, and it adds ozone to the water to keep the owner from having to use detergent. Ozone ostensibly has the ability to sanitize and disinfect with no need of soap.

After attaching the machine to the water supply and the washer, running a cycle floods the system with ozone. Studies by Consumer Reports do not find the cleaning power to be much better than (or more economical than) that of detergent. The reviewers remain hopeful that a system could be invented to outperform detergent, economically or effectively -- or both.
