Painkillers for dogs are medications formulated for relieving pain in domesticated canines. Some medications that are explicitly formulated for dogs are Novox, Zubrin and Deramaxx. Some medications used as painkillers for human beings can also safely be prescribed for dogs.
Aspirin is one human painkiller that is considered safe for use in dogs. Tylenol is considered dangerous for dogs as it can cause liver toxicity even at low doses. Ibuprofen is also considered dangerous for dogs. Medications formulated specifically for dogs are most often nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, similar in action to Aspirin. FlexPet is a version of a human painkiller reformulated for use in animals.
