Many painters have painted Jesus Christ. Among them are Rogier van der Weyden, who painted "The Descent From the Cross" around 1435. This painting shows Jesus being lowered from the cross by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, while Mary, dressed in a sumptuous blue gown, faints from grief.
Another painter who had Jesus Christ as his subject was Rosso Fiorentino, who painted "The Dead Christ With Angels" between 1524 and 1527.
A more modern painter who painted Jesus was Paul Cézanne, who based his painting "Christ in Limbo" on a Renaissance work by Sebastiano del Piombo, which he also called "Christ in Limbo."
