What do Pakistani people eat?

Some of the staple foods in Pakistan include rice, yogurt and a type of bread known as chapati or roti. Pulla-o and biryani, which are often spicy fried rice dishes mixed with either meat or vegetables, are also popular. Another local recipe is a rice pudding called kheer.
Pakistani cuisine is characterized as being peppery and oily. Curries are commonly served in the southern region, while kababs and other barbecued meat are frequently eaten in the north. The majority of the poverty-stricken Pakistani population seldom dines on meat, and only the wealthy can afford to eat lamb, mutton, chicken, beef or fish. Pakistan is a predominant Muslim country, where eating pork meat is strictly forbidden.
