Do palm trees flower?

Palm trees reproduce by flowering. Palm trees are prized more for their leaves and the shapes and textures of their trunks than for their flowers.
Some palm trees do produce flowers that are worth noting. The Macaw palm, which is native to the West Indies, produces flowers that are cream colored and sweet smelling. In time, they develop into red fruit. When the sugar palm reaches maturity, its first flower stalk blossoms on its highest leaf axil. Later, stalks will grow lower and lower on the tree. When the last stalk has flowered and produced fruit, the sugar palm dies.
