How do you pay tolls with Bay Area FasTrak?

To pay tolls with a Bay Area FasTrak, open an account, add a credit card or cash to the account, mount the toll tag and use the toll tag at participating toll booth locations. FasTrak is the electronic toll collection system that is used throughout California and includes all toll roads and bridges.

The following steps are used to pay tolls with Bay Area FasTrak:

1. Open a FasTrak account

Open a FasTrak online by going to the Bay Area FasTrak website and clicking on "Order online now" to complete the application. Customers can also purchase a toll tag at participating locations and then register the tag online. To do so, click on "Register it now."

2. Fund the account

Enter a credit card as part of the application process that will be used to fund the account and pay the tolls. If using cash, contact customer service for assistance.

3. Mount the toll tag

Once the toll tag is received, mount it to the inside of the car's windshield. Use the provided instructions to ensure that it is placed properly so it can be read at the toll booth.

4. Use it at participating tolls

Use the FasTrak toll tag at any toll that has the FasTrak logo. As of 2015, all Bay Area bridges can read FasTrak toll tags. It can also be used on toll roads and express lanes throughout the state and at the parking pay booth at San Francisco International Airport.
