Payment history does affect credit lines on JCPenney charge cards. If JCPenney credit card holders make timely monthly payments, they can apply for an increase in their credit line.
JCPenney offers three levels of credit cards, the regular card, the gold card and the platinum card. Each level carries varying lines of credit. Regular cards offer credit lines below $500, whereas gold and platinum cards offer $500 or more in credit. Anyone who applies for a JCPenney credit card needs an average to good credit score in order to qualify for regular status. Gold and platinum levels require great credit with a score above 720.
