Is peanut butter good for dogs?

Peanut butter is good for dogs in moderation. Raw and unsalted peanut butter is best, and too much should be avoided because, like any fatty food, it can cause pancreatitis.

Raw, unsalted peanut butter contains vitamins and nutrients that dogs need, such as niacin and vitamin E. Feeding it out of food-dispensing toys can provide mental stimulation and alleviate boredom. It can also be good for underweight dogs because it is highly palatable and contains healthy fats to help them gain weight. Highly processed peanut butter should be avoided except as a very rare treat because it contains too much salt, sugar and unhealthy fats for a healthy diet.
