Green peas are considered to be part of the legume family. They are very nutrient dense, and are one of the only foods in the legume family sold in grocery stores as a fresh vegetable.
Green peas are highly nutritious and are full of vitamin K, manganese, vitamin B1, copper, vitamin C, phosphorus, folate, vitamin B5, B3 and B2. Additionally, green peas are rich in fiber and protein, which allows them to have a low glycemic index and makes them a good choice for people with diabetes. The legume has many anti-inflammatory benefits due to the phytonutrients and antioxidants included in green peas.
