What is a penguin's shelter?

Penguins use sticks, rocks, grass and other types of debris to build burrows and nests when they need to shelter their eggs and young. About 3/4 of the time, though, penguins are in the water, protected by feathers that keep the water away from their bodies.

Most of the primary food sources for penguins are found in the water, which explains the amount of time they spend there. They use their shelters to take care of their young until the young have reached the point of maturity where they can go into the water themselves and hunt for food independently.
