Penn State University is nationally recognized as a good academic school. U.S. News & World Report ranks the University Park school 48th on its 2015 list of best national universities. Founded in 1855, the campus boasts an enrollment of roughly 40,000 undergraduates and has a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1.

Popular majors at the school include business management and marketing, engineering, communications, journalism, and the social, biological and biomedical sciences. The College of Education and College of Engineering feature nationally renowned graduate programs. A 2010 Wall Street Journal survey of corporate recruiters ranked PSU graduates number one among those best suited for the world of work.
