Traditional Ukrainian foods include borsch, paska, varenyky and bryndzia. People in the Ukraine enjoy many types of food prepared using dairy products and eggs.
Borsch is a traditional soup made with potatoes and beets. Sometimes, borsch is served with rye bread and can be made with the addition of meat, fish or cabbage. Paska is a tall, cylindrical traditional Easter bread and varenyky is a traditional dumpling made from flour. Bryndzia is a salty cheese made from sheep's milk.
Pork is a popular meat in the Ukraine, as is blood sausage, ham and pork sausage. Fish and chicken are also popular, but meat is most often consumed during family celebrations or on holidays.
