Self-performance reviewers should outline what they've learned and all of their notable achievements during the past year, while remaining truthful and not exaggerating. The review is the time to boast about what projects they successfully completely, for example. Employees should mention what challenges they were presented with and how they overcome them, or intend to overcome them in the future.
