What do pet turtles eat?

Pet turtles are omnivores that eat prepared turtle pellets, leafy greens, crickets and mealworms. It is important to provide a varied diet to a pet turtle to ensure proper nutrition. The prepared turtle pellets will provide most of what a captive turtle needs, but adding vegetables and some meat sources will provide additional nutrition.
To add meat sources to a pet turtle's diet, provide mealworms, crickets or small goldfish to its tank. Live feed is appropriate, but freeze-dried crickets and mealworms can be used as well.
Leafy greens like kale and mustard greens are perfect for feeding pet turtles. These foods are safe for the turtle and provide it the necessary nutrition.
