What is the average border collie weight?

The average male border collie weighs 30 to 34 pounds, and the average female weighs 27 to 42 pounds. Both males and females reach 18 to 22 inches in height.

Due to their medium size, these dogs are sometimes selected as apartment dogs. Border collies, however, are extremely high energy and active whether indoors or out. They need plenty of room to run, or they will become bored and destructive. Large yards or farms, vigorous jobs to keep them occupied and lots of exercise suit them best. Border collies are often trained for obedience and agility competitions and as search and rescue dogs; this is due to their compact size, active minds and strong work ethic.
