Can pheasants fly?

Pheasants can fly. They can reach a flight speed of up to 60 mph, but their normal speed is between 27 and 38 mph. Pheasants prefer the ground and are rarely found in trees.

Twenty-six pheasants were introduced into Oregon by China in 1881. Hunters captured over 50,000 of them just 11 years later and released them into 40 states.

Male pheasants hang out with several females during the mating season, which is in the spring. Hens nest at ground level and lay approximately 10 eggs over the course of several weeks, and it is typically 23 to 26 days before the eggs hatch.
