What is the fire-bellied toad's habitat?

The fire-bellied toad's natural habitat consists of water sources found within Asian forests, swamps and meadows. They are native to northeastern China but can also be found in Japan, Thailand, Russia and Korea.

The fire-bellied toad is actually a frog, as it is rarely far from water and has smooth, moist skin rather than leathery and warty. The only time they stray far from water is late in the summer, toward the end of their breeding season. This frog has been known to use water sources as small as puddles as a habitat. They have no preference for standing over running water and can also be found in rivers and lakes.
