What insect looks like a very long large bee?

Insects that resemble large, long bees are hover flies. Their large eyes, slender wings and yellow, orange and black coloration make would-be predators mistake them for stinging bees.

Like bees, adult hoverflies feed on nectar and pollen. The larvae have a more varied diet and scavenge inside the nests of wasps, or prey upon aphids and other larvae.

The cattle grub or warble fly also resembles a bee. The larvae are parasites that live in the intestines of cattle, goats or horses. The female lays eggs on the hide of the host, and the larvae burrows into the flesh. However, the adult warblefly is short-lived and doesn't feed.
