What is the largest great white shark ever caught?

As of 2014, the largest great white shark ever caught weighed 2,664 lbs. This shark was pulled from South Australian waters in 1959 by fisherman Alf Dean.

Since then, fishermen have brought in larger great white sharks. However, the International Game Fish Association, which confirmed the largest catch by Alf Dean, has disallowed them from formal recognition for various rule violations. In 1988, according to the Canadian Shark Research Center, the largest was a female great white shark captured at Prince Edward Island, measuring 20 feet in length. Although the weight is not known, these 20-footers can weigh as much as 4,200 lbs.
