Male and female moose both stand between 4 and 6 feet high on average. Males weigh approximately 950 pounds, and females usually weigh around 750 pounds. Moose are the largest of the deer family.
Moose stand more than a foot taller than other deer species. As of 2014, the largest known and authenticated moose was an Alaskan moose, weighing in at 1,800 pounds and standing 7 feet 6 inches tall at the shoulder. Moose eat around 50 pounds of plant matter daily. Their stomachs are capable of holding 112 pounds of food at once. Although they are large, they are fast runners, and can even reach speeds of up to 35 mph.
