Is photosynthesis catabolic or anabolic?
By Forinfos - 07/06/2025 - 0 comments
Photosynthesis is an anabolic process. This is because in anabolism, complex molecules like proteins are created and synthesized from smaller, less complex molecules, such as amino acids.
Photosynthesis is a process that creates energy for plants to consume for fuel, which classifies it as an anabolic process and thus renders it constructive. Another example of an anabolic process is muscle or fat growth. A catabolic process, which can be considered destructive, calls for the division of complex molecules, such as glycogen, into simpler molecules, such as glucose. Another example of a catabolic process is the breakdown of muscle proteins or fat cells.
