What is PHP health insurance?

PHP is an acronym for Physicians Health Plan, a subsidiary of Sparrow Health System that offers insurance and other health services in Michigan, as of 2015. PHP offers health insurance to individuals and has plans for employers to offer their workers.

Physicians Health Plan offers health insurance through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act exchange, Medicaid, Healthy Michigan and MIChild. The PHP provider network is made up of over 31,000 medical practitioners and 31 hospitals. Physicians Health Plan was founded in 1980 as a network of physicians, hospitals and other health care professionals, and it offered its first products in 1982.
