Aluminum is a silver-grey metal element with a density of 2.7 grams per cubic centimeter. While remaining ductile and malleable, aluminum has a high tensile strength. Solid at room temperatures, aluminum melts at 1,220.58 degrees Fahrenheit and boils at 4,566 degrees Fahrenheit.
Aluminum is the most abundant metal element in Earth's crust, accounting for 8.1 percent. It is rarely found in its free form; it is usually found as a natural alloy. Its abundance, great strength to weight ratio, fairly high heat capacity and the ease of working with aluminum in complex forms are some reasons why it is the most extracted and used metal in the world.
