A pint is not bigger than a quart. A pint is half the size of a quart, and it contains 16 ounces or 2 cups.
A quart contains 32 ounces, 4 cups or 2 pints. A gallon is the equivalent of 128 ounces, 16 cups, 8 pints or 4 quarts. The ounce, cup, pint, quart and gallon are all measurements of volume in the imperial and U.S. customary systems of measurements. This system is used for most recipes in the United States. The metric system, or the International System of Measurements, uses the milliliter and liter as measurements of volume. The latter system is used in most industrialized nations in the world.
