To plant black-eyed Susan seeds, choose a suitable location and prepare the soil. Next, sow the seeds and lightly water them. Plant black-eyed Susan seeds directly outdoors or indoors in pots or seed beds.

1. Time the planting

   For early blossoms, plant the seeds indoors about six to eight weeks before the anticipated last frost. Otherwise, plant them directly outdoors once the soil temperature has reached 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Choose a location

   Plant the seeds in a sunny part of the garden where the soil drains well. Keep indoor plants close to a window but not in direct sunlight.

3. Prepare the soil

   Use a shovel to loosen the soil, and then smooth it with a rake. Purge weeds and other vegetation from the planting area so the flowers do not need to compete for nutrients.
