According to Mayo Clinic, plantar fasciitis occurs when the tissue in the bottom of the foot becomes inflamed. This condition is one of the main culprits associated with heel pain. Excessive exercise, ill-fitting shoes and an unhealthy body weight can all cause plantar fasciitis, according to WebMD.
WebMD reports that symptoms of plantar fasciitis often strike first thing in the morning and may consist of pain and stiffness on the bottom of each foot. The treatment plan for this condition depends on the severity of the patient's symptoms, says Mayo Clinic. The most common treatments include physical therapy, over-the-counter medications and surgery.
