How do plants get energy?

Plants get energy from the sun through a process called photosynthesis. Plants convert light into chemical energy which is stored in the organism as sugars.
Plants contain very unique organelles called chloroplasts, which contain chlorophyll. With the help of carbon dioxide and water, the chloroplasts are able to absorb energy in the form of light and convert it into storable energy in the form of sugars. The sugars are then transported throughout the entire plant to feed every cell. The sugars can be stored and used when needed. By breaking the sugar, the plant releases the energy it needs.
