How do you play a D major chord on the guitar?

The D major chord is played on the lowest three strings of the guitar. The index finger is placed on the second fret of the third string, the middle finger on the third fret of the first string and the third finger on the third fret of the second string
Place the tip of each finger directly the corresponding fret, as close as possible without actually touching the fret itself. Curl the fingers so that they are not touching any other strings. Strum the bottom four strings slowly to ensure that each note rings out clearly. If it doesn't, the fingering may need to be adjusted slightly.
