Plural words are words that indicate that there are more than one of a particular noun. Plural words help convey and clarify meaning in speech and writing.
Plural words indicate whether there is only one of a thing or more than one. A plural noun can be further clarified with adjectives. Plural words alone do not convey an exact number, only that the noun is not singular. In the English language, a singular noun that ends in -s, -x, -z, -ch, or -sh is made plural by adding -es. A singular noun that ends in -y loses the -y and will end with -ies to become plural.
