The Polish hound is a medium-sized breed of scent hound that originated in Poland. The breed was accepted for registration by the United Kennel Club in 1996.
The Polish hound is known as Ogar Polski in Poland. The Polish hound is a solidly built animal with tan legs and a large black saddle marking covering the entire upper surface of the body. These hounds give an impression of stamina rather than speed. They stand about 21 to 25 inches at the withers and weigh 44 to 70 pounds. They have a slow, heavy short trot and use a deep, melodic voice when hunting.
