What is polyester fleece?

Polyester fleece is a synthetic fiber that is soft and fluffy. It is often referred to as "polar fleece" or "fleece fabric." To make polyester fleece, fabric is knitted from twisted yarns.

The surface of the fleece is brushed to create napping, then the fleece is sheared. Fleece comes in several finishes, including laminated fleece, which is wind-resistant. Most fleece feels similar to felt, a texture created with a brushed finish. It is also referred to as blizzard fleece, glacier fleece and regular fleece. Fabric with an anti-pill finish has a clearer design on the face than on the opposite side. Anti-pill fleece is also known as velour fleece and premium fleece.
