How are polymyxin B sulfate and trimethoprim eye drops used?

Polymyxin B Sulfate/Trimethoprim eye drops are used to topically treat bacterial infections such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis. The medication contains two antibiotics. Polymyxin B kills the bacteria while Trimethoprim stops the growth of the bacteria. This medicine only works for bacterial infections, not other types of eye infections.

When applying eye drops, first wash hands and make sure the dropper tip applicator does not touch any surfaces or the eye to avoid contamination. Contacts should not be worn while using this medication. Follow the physician's instructions for using this medication and use it for the entire time prescribed, generally seven to ten days.
