The Hester Street Fair has been a tradition on the Lower East Side since the 1800s. Featuring the best of local restaurants, the 9th Avenue Food Festival also has music and clothing vendors. Park Avenue is closed to traffic on an August day so people can exercise, play and enjoy live performances during Summer Streets. The popular Feast of San Gennaro is an 11-day celebration with food, games, music, parades and religious processions.
