Because of the wide range of models produced and the variability of availability in the used tractor market, popularity is more focused on brand loyalty and features than specific model types. John Deere, New Holland and Kubota are some of the most highly rated manufacturers of farm tractors worldwide.

Several models from each manufacturer appear on most used tractor listing sites. As of April 2015, Tractor House lists over 20,000 used John Deere tractors for sale, 2,722 Kubota tractors and 3,700 New Holland vehicles. Of these, the John Deere 8310 is the most common. Case tractors also frequently appear for sale, but they are generally not as highly rated.
