What are the most populated counties in Mississippi?

The top 10 most populous counties in Mississippi according to the 2012 census include Hinds, Harrison, DeSoto, Rankin and Jackson Counties. The list also includes Madison, Lee, Lauderdale, Forrest and Jones Counties. Hinds has a population of 248,149, which is 179,567 more than Jones, with a population of 68,582.

The capital of Mississippi, Jackson, is located on the eastern side of Hinds. Bordering Hinds are Madison, Rankin, Copiah, Claiborne, Warren and Yazoo. Hinds is located slightly southwest from the center of the state.

The five least populous counties in Mississippi are Franklin, Quitman, Jefferson, Sharkey and Issaquena. Franklin has a population of 7,912, while Issaquena has a population of only 1,393.
