What is the population of Alaska?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2013, Alaska has an estimated population of just over 735,000. Alaskans are spread out over more than 570,000 square miles of land, making the state by far the least-densely populated of the 50 states in the union.

The municipality of Anchorage easily boasts the most residents of "The Last Frontier" (Alaska state nickname), with an estimated population of 300,000 (recorded in 2013). The next largest cities are Juneau, the state capital, which lies 850 miles southeast of Anchorage, and Fairbanks, roughly 360 miles to the north. Each have an estimated population of about 32,000.
